Brontë GrossKeynote speakerBrontë is an avid educator, adventurer, and sailor. He co-owns and operates a sailing business with his partner Sarah in Bayfield, WI. An endless optimist, he teaches with an infectious zest and takes boundless joy in the small things. You can often find him saying "wow, look at that cloud. Jeez."

jeff rennikeJeff Rennicke is an award-winning writer, photographer, and speaker. His writing has appeared in nine books including JEWELS ON THE WATER: LAKE SUPERIOR’S APOSTLE ISLANDS and over 250 magazine articles in such publications as National Geographic Traveler, National Parks, Reader’s Digest, and Backpacker. He is currently the Executive Director of Friends of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and lives in Bayfield, WI.

Sjana Schanning
Sjana Schanning is an ecologist and photographer for the Northern Research Station of the US Forest Service. She has spent much of her career collecting data from across our northern forests, including the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Isle Royale National Park and the Apostle Islands. After moving to northern Wisconsin to attend Northland College, she made a home here and spends her free days with her husband, spotting fish in little inland lakes, moving snow with the neighbor, traveling, backpacking mountains and laughing with friends.

Cathy TechtmannBoozhoo. My name is Cathy Techtmann, but most friends call me "Cat." I work as an Environmental Outreach State Specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Division of Extension. I live and work in the homeland of the Lake Superior Ojibwe people. My work focuses on helping people develop climate change and environmental leadership by weaving together culture and science. When I am not working, I am an avid kayaker, dressage rider, biker, and water lover.
